Dr. Karen Griffith has practiced optometry in Petaluma since 1988. She graduated from the University of California Berkeley School of Optometry. Her patient experience is vast, examining and treating six-month-old infants to dementia patients in a local skilled nursing facility. Dr. Griffith is active in supporting her professional association and is a member of the American Optometric Association Contact Lens Section.
Dr. Griffith was 16 years old when she decided to become an optometrist. Having worn glasses for many years, she was thrilled the first time she put on contact lenses. She still remembers the excitement of experiencing clear vision after each visit to the eye doctor and wanting her patients to share the same clarity.
Dr. Kelly Staton graduated from University of Houston School of Optometry. She has worked with Dr. Griffith since 1997. Dr. Staton is therapeutically trained and certified to provide each patient with the best optometric care. She has a special interest in Ocular Surface Disease and runs the Dry Eye Clinic at Westside optometry.
A California native, Dr. Staton lives with her husband, daughter and son.
Nannette Magnani is the patient treatment coordinator for Dr. Griffith. Nannette enjoys helping people and finds optometry to be very interesting. She keeps the office on schedule, assists patients with insurance eligibility and warmly welcomes everyone. She speaks Spanish too. Nannette coordinates patient care for refractive surgery candidates. If you have any questions, or are curious if you are a candidate for corneal refractive surgery, call Margaret. She can answer your questions and will send you information.
Nannette also holds a board position on the California Paraoptometric Section. She works with other board members to provide paraoptometric education throughout the state. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.
Peg Ahlers manages the Westside Optometry optical department. Peg assists each patient in selecting the optimal eyewear to meet each person’s lifestyle needs. This may include sunwear, sportswear, computer glasses and fashion eyewear for children and adults.
Peg was born and raised in Petaluma. She enjoys fishing and cooking with her family. She will make your visit to Westside Optometry a very pleasant experience.
Maureen O’Hare assists the doctors with contact lens ordering and patient training. Maureen is available to answer questions about contact lenses: bifocal, colored, specialty and disposable. She does all the training and education for new and previous contact lens wearers. Her goal is patient success with contact lens wear. She is also the office expert on the Optical Coherence Tomographer (OCT).
Maureen is a fourth generation Petaluman. When she is not assisting patients, she is working in her garden or spending time with her family. Westside Optometry has benefitted from Maureen’s expert craftiness. She designs and creates our seasonal window display.
Hillary Hutchison cleans, disinfects and prepares the exam rooms for each patient. She also does preliminary and ancillary tests for Drs. Griffith and Staton, such as autorefraction, autokeratometry, visual field analysis, topography and digital retinal photography.
Hillary was born in Northern California and recently transplanted back after living in the Black Hills of South Dakota for many years. She has a litany of hobbies and interests but for the sake of brevity, here are only a few. Hillary lives the vintage life and feels nostalgia for a time she never got to experience first hand. Take her to an antique store and she’ll be a happy camper. Take her camping however, and she promises to be your worst nightmare. Hillary enjoys cooking, singing, and creating art – though she won’t claim to be good at any of these. She is looking forward to meeting all of our patients and getting to know the community.
