They remove foreign bodies from the cornea and conjunctiva, diagnose diabetic eye disease, identify vision related learning disorders and treat blepharitis.

Dr. Karen Griffith and her staff look forward to enhancing the quality of your life through excellent vision care. Our services range from eye examinations for glasses, contact lenses and refractive surgery to treatment of dry eyes, allergic eyes and “pink” eyes. We diagnose diabetic eye disease, glaucoma and treat blepharitis, in addition to providing numerous other eye-related services and care. With the support of a highly trained staff, Westside Optometry also offers contact lens fittings for a variety of prescriptions and visual needs, plus has a full offering of designer frames including FYSH, Gucci, Nike, Kate Spade, KLiik, Bebe, Modo, Evatik and Maui Jim. Dr. Karen Griffith
Dr. Karen Griffith has practiced optometry in Petaluma since 1988. She graduated from the University of California Berkeley School of Optometry. Her patient experience is vast, examining and treating six-month-old infants to dementia patients in a local skilled nursing facility. Dr. Griffith is a a member of the American Optometric Association Contact Lens Sections and the Ocular Wellness & Nutrition Society.
Dr. Griffith was 16 years old when she decided to become an optometrist. Having worn glasses for many years, she was jubilant the first time she put on contact lenses. She still remembers the excitement of experiencing clear vision after each visit to the eye doctor and wanting her patients to share the same clarity.
Dr. Kelly Staton
Dr. Kelly Staton graduated from University of Houston School of Optometry. Dr. Staton is educated, trained and licensed to practice optometry to the fullest limit of California law. She has taken a special interest in diagnosing and managing ocular surface issues such as dryness, allergies and blepharitis.
She has worked with Dr. Griffith since 1997. A California native, Dr. Staton enjoys pickleball, yoga and walking.
Summer Reed
Summer Reed is the patient treatment coordinator for westside Optometry. Summer enjoys helping people and finds optometry to be very interesting. She keeps the office on schedule, assists patients with insurance eligibility and warmly welcomes everyone. Summer coordinates patient care for refractive surgery candidates. If you have any questions, or are curious if you are a candidate for corneal refractive surgery, call Summer. She can answer your questions and will send you information.
A woman of many talents, Summer will answer questions about contact lenses. She does all the training and education for new and previous contact lens wearers. Her goal is patient success with contact lens wear.
In her spare time, Summer enjoys spending time with family and friends. Her hobbies include walking, reading, music and yoga. She has degrees in Social and Behavioral Science and Humanities.
Ivette Steger
Ivette Steger manages the Westside Optometry optical department. Ivette assists each patient in selecting the optimal eyewear to meet each person’s lifestyle needs. This may include sunwear, sportswear, computer glasses and fashion eyewear for children and adults.
She is skilled at patient testing as well. Ivette is also the office expert on the Optical Coherence Tomographer (OCT).
Ivette was born in El Salvador and has been living in Petaluma for twenty years. She is fluent in English and Spanish. She enjoys painting, shopping and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys traveling the world while learning of the different cultures.
She will make your visit to Westside Optometry a very pleasant experience.
Desiree Maresh
Desiree Maresh joined our team in the summer of 2022 and brought optical experience. She is expert in selecting the perfect frame style for each patient.
Des was born in Maine but moved to Sonoma County when she was 10. She enjoys gardening and playing with her cats, Sam And Zelda. You might find Des enjoying the outdoors with family and friends.
Stephanie Williams
Stephanie cleans, disinfects and prepares the exam rooms for each patient. She also does preliminary and ancillary tests for Drs. Griffith and Staton, such as autorefraction, autokeratometry, visual field analysis, topography and digital retinal photography.
She graduated from Humboldt State University with a BA in Political Science. STephanie bring the experience from other industries and likes to help patients enjoy a smooh visit to Westside Optometry. Being a mother of two, she especially enjoys working with our younger patients. Some of her favorite things to do are crochet and cool.
